Since almost ten years ago, the 2023 Ram 1500 has consistently received some of our highest ratings for full-size pickup trucks. There are numerous reasons for this, but a few stand out: an elegant interior, a surprising level of comfort during the trip, and, of course, the usefulness one might anticipate from a big pickup truck. The Ram 1500 is also available in a bewildering multitude of configurations. It could be dressed up or down to meet the needs of its buyer, just like other full-size trucks.

The cabin of the 2023 Ram 1500 crew cab is a comfortable space to be in. All four doors have their own substantial and strategically placed grab handles. They all open widely to make it simple to enter. The controls are within easy reach, and the driver has a commanding road perspective.
There is plenty of headroom, legroom, and shoulder room for passengers in every seat. The Ram boasts greater back legroom and foot clearance than rival trucks, and the cabin is roomy. The Ram’s big windows and intelligent hood design help with total outward visibility, despite the rearview mirror being a little undersized.
Even without a pickup truck, the optional 12-inch touchscreen is a stunning addition to any car. It features a big map and excellent graphics. Another impressive entertainment system is the 8.4-inch Uconnect, which has navigation. Both come with multiple USB and USB-C ports and smartphone compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Tradesman’s 5-inch screen, on the other hand, does everything right.
Sadly, Ram does not come with any driver assistance features as standard. Parking sensors, front collision mitigation, and lane departure mitigation are only available on models Laramie and higher. When enabled, adaptive cruise control performs a good job of completely stopping the truck. There is automated parking assistance, and it performs well.
For this class, tow ratings are strong, especially for diesel. Most Ram 1500 configurations can tow more than 11,000 lbs, and some can tow more than 12,000 pounds when equipped with a V8 or a diesel engine. For storing tools or hauling equipment, the optional RamBox locking bins integrated into the side of the truck are helpful. Moreover, a two-way tailgate that opens inward or outward like doors is possible.
Another area of strength for the vehicle is its interior storage capacity. Its large, flexible center console is very adaptable. The Ram can be specified with concealed storage areas on the back floor, underneath the back seats, or inside the back cushions. The back seat can be folded flat or in a 60/40 split on higher versions.
Depending on the layout and trim level, four engines are offered. An eight-speed automatic transmission propels the rear wheels of each. All models have four-wheel drive as an option, except for the Ram TRX, which comes standard. The list of engines consists of the following:
